Friday Photo: Mike's Fatbike

Not much to say about this one, she clears big tires and is built to roll through (or preferably on top of) the snow. Super short head and seat tubes were Mike's preference to allow more standover, hence the giant stack of spacers. Might be time to make him a super-riser stem...

Is he going to be running one of those Turner 2 wheel drives? What's the cog on the front hub for?

I'm guessing that's for running a singlespeed setup...just swap front to rear (same spacing)

Yup. It's so you can (theoretically quickly) go SS if needed/wanted.

No plans to run it singlespeed. The cog up front is just a backup in case the rear hub has problems (like water getting in it and freezing, keeping the pawls from engaging). If that happens out in the middle of no where, I can just swap wheels and keep going.

The stem that I'm using (Syntace Superforce 120mm x 6 degree) is also available in a 120mm x 20 degree. If I switched to that stem, I could go from 40mm of spacers to 20mm, and the bars would stay in just about the same position. But I already had this stem, so that's what I'm running for now.
