I really, really hope they meant "recent" or something, and not "prominent" here, because calling Hinault winning the tour on the first clipless pedals, in a clipless pedal ad, seems a bit odd.

I think you may be misinterpreting what they are saying? I think by saying "more" prominent they don't necessarily mean (greater) but likely meaning "more" ("equally prominent" in addition to).???
