Shiny, pretty...

Normally this blog is concerned more with nitty-gritty details of cutting up and welding together metal, but today we'll take a break from that and bask in this lovely colored shiny object. Neat pumpkiny color. Too bad we missed Halloween...

Expect a few more pictures once I have the shock and such mounted up.

why do you leave the headtube a little longer on the bottom than the top? I can't think of any other bikes like that.

So the Reba knobs don't whack the downtube. Pretty much all 29" bikes have a lot of downtube extended below the head tube, though some (like Niner, GF) have a brace in there that takes up some of the HT space.

Wow, that's pretty neat. I never noticed that before.

I have something kinda neat for you. here's a recipe for a pasta red sauce base. You can add, cheese, veggies, sausage, etc as desired. also, get a decent reduction going and it'll taste better:

1 onion (wilted)
1/3 cup minced garlic
2 cans crushed tomatos
8 teaspoons tomato paste
8 teaspoons sugar
(dry herbs)
2/3 cups basil
8 tsp oregano
4 tsp thyme
4 tsp marjoram
for fresh herbs, use same ratio of 8 basil to 2 oregano to 1 thyme to 1 marjoram
puree, simmer, stir obsessively

Dude, I am making that sauce!

I love recipes! And bikes! If I wasn't already married, I'd probably propose to Nathan right now...

Er. I mean, look for a pasta sauce review soon.

ok, I'm kind of a dumb.
my girlfriend is chef at an italian place, and she gave me that recipe. i forgot that they use BIG cans of crushed tomatoes, like industrial sized ones.

If you use the regular 'big' 32 oz cans, you'd need 4 of them for that recipe I gave you, so scale it down accordingly.

so yeah, try this one. it should make more sense:

1/4 onion (wilted)
4 tsp garlic
1 32oz can crushed tomatoes
2 tsp tomato paste
2 tsp sugar
8 tsp basil
2 tsp oregano
1 tsp thyme
1 tsp marjoram

there's a trick to getting the dried herbs to come out right. when you're wilting the onions, throw in the garlic and tomato paste, then fry the herbs in that mix to wake them up before you add the crushed tomatoes and sugar.
