Wish the claim rule was still in place instead - that's a sweet rule if you're a privateer!

I agree that bikes are next on the hit list after motos. Honestly, I'd like to see more cooperation between IMBA and the BRC and others that represent motorized user groups, but I doubt it'll happen.

-WaltWalthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09156620599767391579noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-36151678.post-89481203075713911492007-08-28T15:54:00.000-07:002007-08-28T15:54:00.000-07:00This comment has been removed by the author.Walthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09156620599767391579noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-36151678.post-10616839651470431682007-08-28T15:37:00.000-07:002007-08-28T15:37:00.000-07:00I don't know if your facts about AMA rules etc. ar...I don't know if your facts about AMA rules etc. are accurate or not, but I do know that current trail bikes are no more powerful now than they were 20 years ago. The difference is that now they have suspension and brakes to match that power. Some are slightly heavier--because the trend has been towards 4 strokes with E start. I certainly agree that most are louder than they need to be--there needs to be some type of decibel tax added to every aftermarket exhaust sold. Regrettably, that's the first "improvement" most hillbillies make to their bikes.

XR650 is a not an exemplary trail bike. It's a desert bike.

Bikes and Motos should get along better because we both crave the same type of terrain. As always, over use and abuse by either party can ruin a good thing (see Hall Ranch to see what pedalers can do, see places-i'm-not-going-to-name-on-the-interwebs to see how responsible land stewardship by motos can keep the single track single for decades).

Bike people have a lot to learn. First it's the motos, but you're next in the cross hairs. Closures to bicycles (under the "mechanized vehicles" moniker--which is what USFS and others use to classify pedal bikes--note they've associated you closer to those "bad" jeeps and quads and motos) is next. Then you'll have to have your dog on leash. Then your dog will have to stay at home. Finally, you'll only be able to enjoy your public lands thru a virtual reality tour ala Demolition Man.

Do you know the difference between a developer and an environmentalist? A developer wants a cabin in the woods. An environmentalist has a cabin in the woods.

Doug RenderAnonymousnoreply@blogger.com
